Foreign direct investment
In recent years, foreign direct investment (FDI) has become increasingly important for countries and their regions due to the positive impact it has on economic growth and the promotion of the territory, because it is an indicator that shows the attractiveness of cities and regions to encourage the location of foreign companies, the transfer of technology and business experiences that can contribute to improve local business activity. This section provides information on the behavior and importance of Bogota - Region as the most attractive territory in Colombia for foreign direct investment.

According to information from the Annual Survey of Direct Investment published by DANE, Bogota was the main recipient of foreign investment, concentrating 28.6% of the investment received in 2019, which means that there is a lasting interest between a resident abroad and a Colombian resident, and a significant degree of influence in decision making. Cundinamarca received 2.9% of the investment received by Colombia in the year before the pandemic.
