New and expansion FDI in Bogota and by municipalities in the region (2021)

During 2021, Bogota, Tocancipá, Zipaquirá and Sopó hosted 115 new and expansion FDI projects that on average received approximately US$13.5 million per project, while in the last five years about US$14.3 million per project on average.

It is observed that, although the city of Bogota is the city that receives the largest number of projects in the city-region, reaching about 97% of the projects that on average generate 13 million dollars (2016 - 2021), it is in the other municipalities where projects with higher investment are developed (approximately 23 million dollars per project). This is due in several cases to the fact that the projects are carried out in free trade zones where a larger investment is required.
