Air quality by station in Bogota PM 10
Analysis
In order to control air quality, with Resolution 2254 of 2017, particulate matter (PM) consternation limits were established for cities in Colombia. For an annual average, the 10 micrometer (µm) PM concentration cannot exceed 50 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3). In 2019, no station exceeded the limit established in the resolution. However, all stations exceeded the limit established in the WHO Air Quality Guideline, which for this type of material is 20 µg/m3. New studies hypothesize the possible presence of COVID-19 in particulate matter as one of the reasons for the persistence of the virus in the atmosphere and the possibility of a greater risk of contagion in places with higher air pollution. These studies have been carried out on PM 10 samples and their results are preliminary.
Description
Annual average concentration per monitoring station of particulate matter corresponding to small particles, solid or liquid, of dust, ash, soot, metallic particles, cement or pollen, dispersed in the atmosphere and whose diameter is less than 10 micrometers.
