Environmental sustainability
In cities and regions, sustainability is fundamental to managing development and long-term economic performance, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the capabilities of future generations. To achieve this, efforts are required to convert negative environmental impacts into positive ones, in order to prevent further wear and tear on the planet and begin to recover the damage caused. These impacts are measured, among others, in air and water quality, waste management and energy efficiency, land-use planning and the environment.
