The economic activities related to the Fashion Cluster have an important historical significance for both the country and the region. Data from the DANE 2019 Annual Manufacturing Survey shows that Bogota is the second largest garment industry in the country after Medellin. This is due to the fact that 29% of the production and 33% of the personnel employed in this industry at national level is concentrated in this city. As for footwear, it leads this sector, where 30% of the production and 37% of the employed personnel in the country are located. Thus, the Fashion Cluster initiative was born in 2012, with the purpose of contributing to the strengthening of the business fabric of the textile and apparel sector in Bogota and the region, generating a productive bet to help the business dream, through a series of specialized services and various lines of work.
