DATAJAM Challenges
Challenge 1: Corporate Security
Objective: Analyze the relationship between perceptions of safety, crime rates, and their impact on the business climate in Bogotá, using data from the Business Climate Survey (ECN) and the Perception and Victimization Survey (EPV). Statement: Participants should use the ECN and EPV datasets to investigate how security and perceptions of security affect the business environment in Bogotá. The analysis should identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can be used to formulate strategies and policies to improve both security and the business climate in the city. CHALLENGE 2: Safety and public works
Objective: Analyze the relationship between public transportation projects currently underway in Bogotá (i.e., First Metro Line, TransMilenio Av. 68, Calle 13) and perceptions of safety, with an emphasis on the experiences and needs of the business community. Statement: Using data from the Mobility and Urban Environments Survey, the Business Climate Survey, and the “Front Line” Survey, teams should analyze the impact that construction projects have on the perception and experiences of safety among business owners, especially micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), so that hypotheses can be generated and tested about variations in criminal behavior and the perception of insecurity in corridors and the most relevant factors associated with these changes.
Teams are encouraged to combine this data with other relevant sources to provide specific, data-driven recommendations for improving safety and perceptions of safety in these road corridors.
Challenge 3: Integral security axis in the Metropolitan Region
Objective: Promote the development of analyses by participants on perceptions of security and victimization in Bogotá and some municipalities of Cundinamarca within the framework of comprehensive security in the Metropolitan Region. Statement: Using data from the Perception and Victimization Survey (EPV) conducted in Bogotá and 16 municipalities in Cundinamarca, figures from the Cundinamarca Governor's Office Observatory, and SIEDCO, the teams should study the impact of perceptions and experiences of insecurity in municipalities that share geographical boundaries with Bogotá and those municipalities that, despite not sharing a geographical border, have interrelated security dynamics due to the conurbation of municipalities, especially between the provinces of Sabana de Occidente and Centro, through the correlation analysis of new variables that allow for a more accurate diagnosis of the reality.
Teams are encouraged to combine this data with other relevant sources and documents so that they can analyze and provide specific, achievable, and data-driven recommendations to improve security and its perception in the Metropolitan Region.
