Data for security contest

We have extended registration until February 22!
Since the promotion and consolidation of the business fabric throughout the region, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce has played a leading role in the evolution, growth and transformation of the business environment, working for development and competitiveness, within the framework of a comprehensive commitment to society, aimed at achieving an ecosystem where prosperity and equity go hand in hand, supporting the various actors in the business landscape, from micro and small businessmen, entrepreneurs to large companies.
In this context, security is one of the essential pillars to guarantee a favorable environment for business. Bogota and its Region have faced different challenges in this area over the years, and the CCB has been at the forefront of public policy discussions, collaborating with local administrations and other public and private sector entities, seeking solutions and strategies to improve this fundamental factor in the business climate for both citizens and entrepreneurs, who face various challenges from external factors, such as drastic changes in the economic cycle or factors associated with insecurity to operate, to internal aspects, such as financial management, the integrity of its staff and the preservation of its reputation.
To better understand these dynamics, for the past year the CCB has invested in the development and construction of information through statistical operations such as the Perception and Victimization Survey (EPV) and the Business Risk Module of the Business Climate Survey (ECN); tools that provide a current snapshot of the state of security and business risks, as well as a cumulative history that allows for the analysis of trends and patterns over time.
The above allows channeling all this information generating solutions with innovative approaches, so the CCB has taken the initiative to organize an event for university students to present their analysis proposals on this particular topic: we will call it from now on the Datos por la Seguridad.
This event will present two different challenges that will focus on the topic of security, taking as a primary basis the data from the Perception and Victimization Survey (EPV) and the Business Risk Module of the Business Climate Survey (ECN), without ruling out the integration of other complementary sources of information.
Objective and scope
The main objective of this competition (Data for security), organized by the CCB, is to drive innovation and in-depth analysis around citizen and business security in the Bogota region. We hope not only to obtain in-depth and detailed analysis, but also to foster a culture of collaboration and innovative thinking that will help promote a safer and more prosperous future for all.
In this context, the contest has the following expectations:
Exploit and Maximize the Value of Information: to use data provided by the Perception and Victimization Survey (VPS) and the Business Risk Module of the Business Climate Survey (BCS), complementing them with other sources of information. The objective is to uncover patterns, trends and areas of opportunity that may not be evident to the naked eye.
Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Bringing together academic observatories, university think tanks and analysis centers, and students to create a space in which different disciplines and perspectives come together in the analysis and solution of security-related problems.
Generate Innovative Proposals: Seek the development of solutions, strategies and proposals that can be implemented or taken as a reference by the CCB and other relevant actors, in order to improve security and the business climate in Bogota and its Region.
