While the average GDP per capita in the OECD is 2.5 times that of Bogota, R&D expenditures are 6.3 times higher, and patents -per million inhabitants- are 119 times higher.
In Bogota, applied patents barely reach 13.7% of the European average, and the precarious efforts of firms in R&D expenditures augur the deepening of the lag.
Bogota invests 0.4% of GDP in R&D compared to the OECD average of 2.6%.
