Description
QS conducts extensive consultation with academics and higher education experts in Latin America to ensure that the methodology of the Latin American ranking takes into account the local context as well as international standards. This ranking evaluates universities using seven indicators:
Academic reputation: a core element of all QS ranking groups, its value is calculated based on the results of global academic surveys conducted each year.
Employer Reputation: recognizing the importance of perceptions within the global job market, this indicator is based on employers' perspectives of graduates.
Faculty/Student Ratio: this indicator evaluates the number of full-time academic staff members employed relative to full-time students enrolled.
Citations per Article: this indicator is calculated using SCOPUS data and reflects the impact and quality of a university's research work according to the average citations per published article.
Articles per Professor: like the previous indicator, this one is oriented to measure research; in this case the indicator reflects the average number of articles published per faculty member, thus evaluating the research productivity of each institution.
Proportion of professors with PhD: the proportion of professors with PhD was identified as a particularly significant benchmark for the universities in the region, its objective is to measure the teaching quality of the academic teaching staff that has reached the highest educational level in their area of expertise.
Web impact: to measure the impact on the web, this indicator uses the Webometrics ranking as a basis.
