Value of collections for public performances in the performing arts in Colombia

Bogotá Region maintains its leadership in the country's cultural sector, despite a slight territorial redistribution of participation in 2023. Although its share of national revenue decreased from 60% in 2022 to 52.16% in 2023, the Bogotá Region retains its dominant position, supported by a robust infrastructure and the capacity to host large-scale events. In particular, Bogotá D.C. reduced its share to 40.92%, while neighboring municipalities such as Sopó significantly increased their share, reaching 7.17%, driven by massive events such as Estéreo Picnic. In contrast, Chía and Cota registered decreases, with shares of 0.88% and 3.19%, respectively, suggesting a trend toward municipalities with lower operating costs and greater efficiency in permit management. At the national level, Medellín consolidated its position as the country's second-largest cultural hub, with sustained growth over the past year. For its part, Cartagena strengthened its position as a strategic destination for cultural events, while Cali and Barranquilla faced setbacks, highlighting potential structural challenges affecting their competitiveness in the cultural sector. Between 2012 and 2023, the Bogotá Region accounted for 54.47% of the sector's national revenue, reaffirming its central role in the country's cultural economy.
