Economic growth
This section analyzes the characteristics of the Gross Domestic Product of the Bogota - Cundinamarca Region in the following aspects: Size (Value of GDP in constant prices), Composition (Participation%) and Dynamics (Annual % variation).
GDP Bogota and Colombia, 2015-2024
The Gross Domestic Product is the total value of goods and services produced in a period of time, measured on a quarterly and annual basis. It is the most important indicator to measure the performance of the Bogota economy, at a general level and for all its sectors.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Bogota's GDP grew 2.8%, close to the 2.3% recorded in the fourth quarter of Colombia's GDP; Bogota's GDP increased 1.2 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2023, when the city decreased 1.6%.

Departamental GDP
DANE published the GDP by department for 2023. The results showed that Bogotá and Cundinamarca consolidated 31.3% of the total national production in 2023. Also, that the growth of the region was 0.5%, compared to the 2022, while that of Colombia was 0.6%.
Distribution of Bogota's Gross Domestic Product
• Wholesale and retail trade activities, public administration and defense, and real estate activities are the activities with the highest relative importance with respect to gross value added for 2023, participating with 25.30%, 17.15%, 13.04% in Bogota.
• Agriculture and mining and quarrying activities are the least important contributors to the city's value added, with shares of 0.01% and 0.16%, respectively.

In November 2025, there was a 1.1% decrease in the ISE compared to October 2025, when there was a 0.3% increase.

Indicator of Economic Monitoring by Economic Sector
In November 2025, the activities that showed the highest annual increase in the ISE were Public administration and defense (7.9%) and Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (5.0%). In contrast, the activity that recorded the largest decrease was Information and communications, which showed an annual reduction of 1.0% during the period analyzed.

In December 2025, industrial production decreased -0.6%, compared to December 2024. Real sales decreased 3.8% and employed personnel increased 0.5%.

Retail trade dynamics in December 2025 vs. December 2024
At the national level, when comparing December 2025 with the same period in 2024, it is recorded that the behavior of real sales was positive. In the national total, real sales increased 11.0% and the number of employed personnel increased 2.4%.
In Bogota, trade grew by 19.8% in sales by December 2025 compared to the same month in 2024; The number of people employed increased by 0.8%.
In Cundinamarca, trade increased by 14.4% in sales for December 2025 compared to the same month in 2024; The number of people employed increased by 9.9%.

In December 2025, 15 of the 18 service activities recorded revenue growth compared to December 2024.
The three (3) activities with the best performance in December 2025 compared to the same month of 2024 in revenue were: Advertising (23.3%), Programming and Broadcasting Activities, News Agencies (19.3%), and Employment, Security and Private Investigation, Building Services (16.8%).

Services dynamics in December 2025 vs. December 2024
In December 2025, 18 of the 18 service activities registered wage increases compared to December 2024.
The three (3) activities with the best performance in December 2025 compared to the same month of 2024 in salaries were: Private Higher Education (22.3%), Administrative and Office Support Activities and Other Activities (16.8%), and Mail and Courier Services (15.1%).

Tourism dynamics in December 2025 vs. December 2024
Total revenues from the accommodation sector in the country decreased by 3.0% when comparing December 2025 with the same month of the previous year; The number of employed personnel decreased by 2.2% in the same period of analysis.
In Bogotá, real income from the accommodation sector decreased by 3.8%, and employed personnel experienced a reduction of 1.5% compared to December 2024.
