Economic growth
This section analyzes the characteristics of the Gross Domestic Product of the Bogota - Cundinamarca Region in the following aspects: Size (Value of GDP in constant prices), Composition (Participation%) and Dynamics (Annual % variation).
GDP Bogota and Colombia, 2015-2026
The Gross Domestic Product is the total value of goods and services produced in a period of time, measured on a quarterly and annual basis. It is the most important indicator to measure the performance of the Bogota economy, at a general level and for all its sectors.
In the third quarter of 2025, Bogotá’s GDP grew by 4.6%, a figure lower than the 3.8% recorded for Colombia’s GDP in the third quarter; Bogotá’s GDP increased by 2.4 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2024, when the city grew by 2.2%.

Departamental GDP
The DANE released GDP figures by department for 2024. The results showed that Bogotá and Cundinamarca accounted for 31.5% of total national output in 2024. They also showed that the region’s growth rate was 1.8% compared to 2023, while Colombia’s was 1.6%.
Distribution of Bogota's Gross Domestic Product
• Wholesale and retail trade activities, public administration and defense, and real estate activities are the activities with the highest relative importance with respect to gross value added for 2023, participating with 25.40%, 17.63%, 12.68% in Bogota.
• Agriculture and mining and quarrying activities are the least important contributors to the city's value added, with shares of 0.01% and 0.17%, respectively.

In March 2026, the ISE rose by 1.2% compared with February 2026, when it had increased by 0.6%.

Indicator of Economic Monitoring by Economic Sector
In March 2026, the sectors that showed the highest annual growth in the ISE were Financial and Insurance Activities (7.2%) and Public Administration and Defense (6.2%). In contrast, the sector with the lowest growth was Construction, which posted an annual increase of 1.2% during the period under review.

In March 2026, industrial production increased by 3.9%, compared to March 2025. Real sales increased 3.8% and the number of employed people fell 0.5%.

Retail trade dynamics in March 2026 vs. March 2025
At the national level, when comparing March 2026 with the same period in 2025, it is recorded that the behavior of real sales was positive. In the national total, real sales increased 13.4% and employed personnel increased 1.9%. In Bogotá, trade grew by 17.9% in sales for March 2026 compared to the same month in 2025; The number of people employed increased by 1.0%.
In Cundinamarca, trade increased by 16.2% in sales for March 2026 compared to the same month in 2025; The number of people employed increased by 9.3%.

In March 2026, 14 of the 18 service activities recorded revenue growth compared to March 2025.
The three (3) activities with the best performance in March 2026 compared to the same month of 2025 in revenue were: Scientific and technical professional activities (37.6%), Mail and courier services (22.2%), and Other entertainment services and other services (21.1%).

In March 2026, 18 of the 18 service activities registered wage increases compared to March 2025.
The three (3) activities with the best performance in March 2026 compared to the same month in 2025 in terms of salaries were: Mail and courier services (23.8%), Restaurants, catering and bars (21.3%), and Administrative and office support activities and other activities (21.0%).

Tourism dynamics in March 2026 vs. March 2025
Total revenues from the accommodation sector in the country decreased by 5.6% when comparing March 2026 with the same month of the previous year; The number of employed personnel decreased by 4.5% in the same period of analysis.
In Bogotá, real income from the accommodation sector decreased by 6.4%, and employed personnel experienced a reduction of 5.5% compared to March 2025.
