In 2024, the 20 neighboring municipalities have a total population of 2,611,540 inhabitants. Bogota, on the other hand, has a population almost 4 times larger (8,034,649). Between 2000 and 2024, Bogotá went from a population density of 158.9 inhabitants/ha to 192.3 inhabitants/ha, a 21% increase in the city's population density.
