More people in Bogota live in rented accommodation

According to the 2023 National Quality of Life Survey, 51.7% of the inhabitants surveyed in Bogota indicated that they live in rented housing, 30.7% in their own home and 8% in their own home but in the process of paying for it. The above indicates an effort by the District Administration to develop public housing policies that contribute to the generation of home ownership for citizens.

Definitions

1. Owned, fully paid for. This is the situation of households in which one or more of its members have legal title to the dwelling and do not have loans or outstanding balances related to the acquisition of the dwelling.

2. Ownership in process of payment. When the dwelling occupied by the household is owned by one or more of its members and installments are paid to cover loans granted for its acquisition.

3. In lease or sublease. When the members of the household pay periodically for the right to stay in the dwelling and none of them is its owner.

4. In usufruct. The household is considered to have a dwelling in usufruct when, with prior authorization from the owner or administrator, the household occupies the dwelling, without any of its members owning it and without paying rent; they are generally ceded by relatives or friends, or are in succession.

5. Possession without title (de facto occupant). It is considered possession without title when the household inhabits a dwelling that has been built on a lot that it does not own; or when it occupies a dwelling without owning it and without authorization from the owner or administrator.

6. Collective ownership. Where there is no title in the name of any person of the household, but of a collective.
