Cold Chain Project for Exporting Aromatic Herbs
The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce's Logistics and Mobility Cluster, along with Analdex and ProColombia, successfully concluded the second phase of the project to standardize processes related to the logistics of exporting aromatic herbs. This initiative aims to improve delivery quality and cold chain traceability for logistics companies in the Bogotá-Region aromatic herbs sector.
To mark this conclusion, we met with business owners and logistics partners, sharing key sector data and insights on post-harvest, packaging, and logistics handling. Any failure in these processes can lead to significant losses in quality and opportunities. A key takeaway: exporting isn't just about good harvesting; it's about ensuring an uninterrupted cold chain from the field to the market.
To help strengthen every link in that chain, we provide three infographics on best practices you can apply now. Here are a few recommendations:
Maintain the temperature between 0∘ and 4∘C during all transport and storage.
Do not allow fluctuations greater than 4∘C, nor delays exceeding 25 minutes in critical processes such as air freight.
Minimize the time between harvest and export: speed is key to preserving freshness.
Require traceability and thermal monitoring from your logistics partners at every stage of the process.
