A form of operational extension with legal representation


A branch is a type of commercial establishment and a form of extension of an already incorporated company. It does not form an independent legal entity, but acts as part of the company that creates it either inside or outside its main domicile, in order to expand and develop its business activities.
The branches are managed by agents with full powers to legally represent the company. They have the capacity to perform legal acts for the full development of its business activities such as: sign commercial contracts, hire employees and manage operations within the scope of the activity authorized by the company. However, the obligations and liabilities of the branch extend to the corporation, which means that any liability acquired by the branch is assumed directly by the corporation.
Before opening the branch office, verify the following information:
Make sure that the name you wish to use has not been registered before. Verify if there is homonymity through the page of the Registro Único Empresarial y Social here. Identify the ISIC Codes that describe the economic activity to be developed. You must classify between 1 and 4 codes. If you have doubts, check with specialized personnel of the CCB. Check here.
