Bogotá D.C., June 16, 2023. The Bogota Chamber of Commerce and Circularmente held a business meeting on the importance of credibility and visibility of Sustainability Reports in which more than 50 companies such as Microsoft, Carvajal, Claro, Bavaria, Bancolombia, Isa, Juan Valdez, Ramo, Mondelez, Tu Boleta, KPMG, Terpel, among many others, participated.
Alicia Lozano, director of Circularmente, commented that "companies want to be accountable, be transparent, measure their impacts, have recognition for their actions and have a great desire to dialogue among peers to overcome their challenges and take advantage of opportunities in sustainability issues. These spaces allow us to generate alliances and synergies to move forward in the country".
Ana María Fergusson, Vice President of Public-Private Articulation of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, stated that "In order to address the current challenges in sustainability, the CCB has launched the Sustainability Ranking, a free, confidential and open platform for micro, small, medium and large companies, where they will receive recommendations and learn about good practices that will allow them to have more input for any type of report they make".

As an example of good practices, for the development of the event, TuBoleta carried out the registration and entry in a 100% digital way, through its delivery method TuBoleta pass, in order to reduce paper consumption, carbon footprint and waste generation. With the digitalization, the company has avoided consuming 14.7 tons of paper per year.
During the event, the importance of transparent reporting was discussed in order to generate credibility among shareholders, investors, employees, government and all stakeholders with whom organizations interact. In addition, the need to have communication instances with updated and real time information, which is necessary for decision making by stakeholders, was also discussed. Finally, the importance of developing creative, inclusive and accessible communications strategies leveraged on technology was emphasized, in order to ensure that audiences are interested in the reports, understand them and consult them.
Jimena Samper, Sustainability Consultant, commented on the importance of having real-time indicators and technological tools that allow monitoring the strategy and indicators. Also, the "Sustainability Thursdays", a day to communicate only issues related to the strategy.
Angelica Arévalo, from Bancolombia's Sustainability team, mentioned the challenge for organizations to make reports easy to understand and have relevant information organized by topics that give confidence to audiences.
Paola Hernández, sustainability manager of Sodimac, spoke about the importance of the sustainability report as a management tool and that it should be delivered to employees so that they are the ones who amplify it. He also invited other companies to make disruptive communications that attract attention so that people consume the content.
Finally, according to Joaquín Caraballo, from Waste to Work, it is important to work on technologies so that information can be delivered automatically and segmented to the audiences and in the languages that are most relevant to them. He also proposed the creation of inter-company committees to evaluate communications and sustainability strategies.
