In Colombia and Bogota, the most vulnerable populations face multiple barriers to access employment, which perpetuates inequality and hinders their integration into the labor market. Factors such as lack of adequate training, discrimination based on gender, age or socioeconomic status, labor informality and the scarcity of opportunities in formal sectors limit their possibilities of obtaining decent employment. In addition, many of these people lack contact networks and face difficulties in accessing digital tools, which complicates their recruitment.

On the other hand, job seekers face additional barriers to entering the labor market, which affects their opportunities to secure and retain formal employment. A lack of prior experience remains one of the main obstacles, as many companies require work histories that make it difficult for those seeking their first job or looking to re-enter the workforce to gain access. Added to this are the limited supply of job opportunities that match different occupational profiles, the gaps between individuals’ skills and market needs, as well as the difficulties in covering expenses associated with job search and employment, such as transportation and food. These conditions can delay entry into formal employment and limit opportunities for economic and social development.
