STUDENT BUSINESS JUDGING COMPETITION
Proceedings of the 5th Edition of the Student Business Trial Competition -2025

On October 29 and 30, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce held the fifth edition of its Student Moot Court Competition. This competition is a unique platform for undergraduate law students from universities in Bogotá and Cundinamarca to test their knowledge in a practical setting. More than a competition, it is a training opportunity that strengthens their professional skills, especially in public speaking, writing, and body language.
Facing an expert jury, participants have a realistic experience that prepares them for the challenges of their future professional lives. The initiative aims to strengthen their analytical, argumentation, time management, and public speaking skills by solving legal problems similar to those they will encounter in their work. In this edition, students addressed a case that required analyzing freedom of enterprise, due diligence, and the rights of children and adolescents in light of the regulatory obligations imposed on digital platforms to prevent CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents).
Nine universities that met the competition requirements participated in this edition: Universidad del Rosario, Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores, Universidad Sergio Arboleda, Politécnico Grancolombiano, Corporación Universitaria de Ciencia y Desarrollo – UNICIENCIA, Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina, Universidad de La Sabana, and Universidad Libre.
On October 29, the oral rounds were held, distributed across ten hearings, in which each university presented its arguments according to the assigned role. The judges evaluated the teams with a maximum score of 100 points. Based on these results, the four universities that qualified for the semifinal on October 30 were selected: Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Universidad de La Sabana, Politécnico Grancolombiano, and Universidad Libre.
During the semifinal hearings, these institutions competed to determine the two finalists: Universidad de La Sabana and Politécnico Grancolombiano. In the final hearing, three judges from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce evaluated the arguments of both teams, with Universidad de La Sabana emerging as the winner.
In recognition of their achievements, the first-place trophy was awarded to La Sabana University, second place to Politécnico Grancolombiano, and third place to the Cooperative University of Colombia. In addition, the award for best brief was given to the Cooperative University of Colombia, and the award for best speaker went to Juan Sebastián López from La Sabana University.
This concludes an edition that reaffirms the value of this competition as a space for universities to demonstrate their skills in presenting legal arguments related to the business sector.
