This edition, which will be held in person on October 1 and 2, 2025 in the city of Bogota, at the Headquarters and Business Center of Chapinero of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota - Colombia, seeks to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the prevention and effective resolution of conflicts, the construction of conscious dialogues between companies and their stakeholders, and the promotion of a culture of peace that contributes to the sustainable and competitive development of the business fabric.

These awards, created and promoted by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Valladolid, were created with the purpose of recognizing the work of all those personalities or organizations that, through their commitment, promote mediation as a basis on which to build healthy and prosperous relationships.

The word that gives its name to these awards, Barakah, comes from Arabic and originally means blessing or providential luck. That is why, when it is said that someone "has barakah", it describes a person who is accompanied by luck, genius, charisma and special mastery to successfully overcome a complicated situation.

In Muslim religiosity and popular culture, the one who has Barakah possesses the quality of being the spiritual master of a community and, therefore, of becoming an intermediary for those who compose it. Therefore, these qualities find an enormous similarity between mediation and the term Barakah, understanding the former as the ability to provide a solution with the parties, and not against them, and to create a framework of communication between the opposing positions, offering a definitive solution to a complicated situation.

Thus, for the good development of mediation, so that it continues to be the way of understanding to solve conflicts and to promote its knowledge in society, the work of mediators and those who work for its promotion is key. For all these reasons, the Barakah Awards aim to pay tribute to those who make it possible for mediation to advance, at regional, European and international level.
