Bogotá, October 2026. In a business scenario in which infrastructure projects are increasingly complex and commercial relationships transcend borders, the ability to prevent and manage disputes has become a strategic element for companies. In this context, Bogotá will host the ICC Colombia 2026 Arbitration Week, which will take place from October 13 to 16 and will bring together leaders from the business, legal and infrastructure sectors, both national and international.

For four days, the city will be a meeting point to analyze how arbitration and other dispute resolution mechanisms can contribute to protecting investments, managing risks, strengthening contracts and providing greater security to commercial relationships. The agenda will allow to learn about international trends, exchange experiences and generate connections between companies, investors, law firms, public entities and technical experts.

“Companies invest, grow and internationalize when they have clear rules and the certainty that, if a difference arises, they will be able to resolve it in an agile, technical and reliable manner. Therefore, for the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce it is a priority to bring entrepreneurs, including small and medium-sized companies, closer to tools such as arbitration, mediation and prevention of disputes, which today are part of good business management. Receiving the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC and the FIDIC in Bogotá confirms that our city is a meeting point for conversations that are defining the future of international business and infrastructure in the region,” stated Juan Esteban Orrego, executive president of the Chamber of Commerce of Commerce. Bogotá.

The ICC Colombia 2026 Arbitration Week is organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and ICC Colombia, together with the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), and will have three free meetings aimed at different professional and business profiles.

The programming addresses different dimensions of dispute resolution. The ICC YAAF brings young professionals and postgraduate students closer to the new dynamics of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. On October 14, the IV ICC Colombia Arbitration Day will analyze the main challenges and trends in arbitration practice, with a look at the evolution of business and international commercial relations.

Finally, on October 15 and 16, the ICC-FIDIC Conference, one of the central spaces of the week, will focus on the contractual challenges of construction and international infrastructure, with topics such as the role of the Engineer in FIDIC contracts from a Latin American perspective, the relationship between dispute prevention mechanisms and arbitration, and the application of the new ICC Arbitration Regulations to construction disputes. This sector brings together highly complex projects, multiple actors and contractual commitments that can extend for several years, so adequate contractual management is decisive to anticipate risks and prevent them from turning into disputes.

“Latin America has a growing weight in international arbitration and Colombia is one of its protagonists. We arrived in Bogotá a few months after the entry into force of the new ICC Arbitration Rules, which updates our tools to respond to what the parties need today. Companies. Construction and infrastructure are among the sectors that most frequently go to the Court; therefore, this dialogue with the FIDIC and with the Colombian business and legal community is key so that contracts are fulfilled and disputes are resolved with efficiency and confidence,” said Claudia Salomon, President of the International Court of Arbitration of the Court. ICC.

FIDIC contracts are today part of the common language of international infrastructure: they are used by governments, multilateral banks and contractors around the world. For engineers, contractors, consultants, project managers, lawyers and arbitrators, mastering its mechanisms, from claims administration to dispute prevention and adjudication boards (DAABs), is key to making better decisions from the early stages of a project and preventing differences from escalating. When the contract is well managed and the parties attend the dispute prevention and adjudication meetings on time, the projects advance, the investment is protected and the communities receive the works they need. Holding this conference together with the ICC in Bogotá allows us to share that experience with a region that has enormous challenges and opportunities in infrastructure,” highlighted Adam Białachowski, president-elect of the ICC. FIDIC.

In addition to its academic component, Arbitration Week will be a space for connection between different actors in the business ecosystem. The participation of companies, law firms, public entities, arbitrators, investors, technical experts and professionals of different generations will allow the sharing of knowledge and generating relationships around the challenges posed by international trade.

The realization of this agenda in Bogotá also contributes to the positioning of the city as a stage for specialized knowledge, investment and international business, by connecting local capabilities with standards and experiences of global reach.

For companies, the message is clear: the management of Controversies do not begin when a conflict arises. Prevention, contractual management and knowledge of dispute resolution mechanisms are part of a strategy that can help protect projects, reduce risks and strengthen the trust necessary to do business in increasingly international markets.

Registrations. The three meetings are free of charge, upon registration. In the case of the ICC-FIDIC Conference, which will have simultaneous Spanish-English interpretation, places are limited and are assigned according to the professional experience of the applicants, with priority for members of the ICC and FIDIC.
