For Andrés Oyuela, Colombian fashion photographer based in New York, that rigor is precisely what distinguishes the platform: «Bogotá Fashion Week is a very good project organized. We are an industry of creatives that needs organization, and the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá with the Bogotá Fashion Week - BFW have managed to create a process that allows brands to grow, research and receive advice, to finally show a product that is ready.”

The look international committee also made itself felt in the debate. With more than two decades covering fashion for Condé Nast in Vogue, GQ and Glamour, José Forteza and Luis Sánchezagree that Colombia is no longer looking for a place on the map of regional fashion: he has it won. «Today it is a reality: Colombia is a bastion of regional fashion and international projection, in terms of suppliers, industry, movement and design quality. When we enter the field of fashion as art, BFW is the event to participate in," they claim.

For brands emerging, the selection is just the first filter. Johanna Isaac, consultant with more than 30 years of experience in brand building, insists that the biggest risk for a young brand is not outside but inside: «My greatest advice for a brand today is to focus on your own success, not the comparison with others. You have to pause, focus and, from there, do a job internal and strategic that aligns the process with the dream and focus that the brand.

That internal work, says Andrés Felipe Gómez, international trade consultant, has to also translate into figures: «The fashion system is a business and supremely creative, but it also has to be a numbers business. There are companies that They want to internationalize their brands without being clear about prices internationals, the markup or the buyer they are betting on, and that is key to getting there: you cannot go to an international fair without a linesheet, clear prices and terms, and proper e-commerce management. Before Before entering global markets, you must first measure yourself at a local level, identify mistakes, correct them and, little by little, climb.”

Since his first edition, BFW has been the main institutional mechanism to connect the Colombian design with national and international buyers, strengthen the business models of the participating brands and position Bogotá as capital of Latin American fashion.
