  • The event is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 businessmen and women from Bogota and the region, and from countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

  • Among the participants were Ha-Joon Chang, South Korean economist; Laura Chinchilla, former president of Costa Rica; Ian de Cruz, global director of P4G; Xavier Sala i Martín, economist and publicist; Barry Katz, professor at Stanford University and specialist in innovation; and María Fernanda Garza, president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

On October 25 and 26, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce will hold the First Great Ibero-American Summit on Sustainability and Innovation in Business, which will feature 38 speakers, panelists and experts, 70% of them international.

Entrepreneurs from Bogota and the region will have the opportunity to connect with business leaders from different countries and international panelists, through learning spaces and exchange of experiences that will focus on innovation and sustainability.

Nicolás Uribe Rueda, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the World Chambers of Commerce Federation, commented:

The Summit is the first major milestone of the global plan we presented in August to strengthen MSMEs from the World Chambers of Commerce Federation, which has four axes: empowerment of women, sustainability, access to markets and adoption of digital tools. During the event, entrepreneurs will acquire the tools to advance in the four axes and will meet business and trade leaders who will open doors to international markets.

During the event, more than 1,000 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from Colombia, 22 partner countries and representatives of 30 international chambers of commerce are expected to participate. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the innovation methodology implemented in Dubai, which seeks to establish a culture of innovation within all chambers of commerce, allowing their services to be at the forefront of the particular needs of their entrepreneurs.

International Chamber of Commerce President Maria Fernanda Garza said, "The World Chambers Federation (WCF) has a key role to play in making chambers of commerce the right channel for MSMEs to navigate today's major global challenges, such as the energy transition, greater workforce diversity and digitalization. This first Great Regional Summit is the ideal setting to bring together all stakeholders to give them tools to support MSMEs in their countries, taking into account local specificities and the region as a whole."
