First inclusive job fair for diverse people in Colombia

06 April 2022The Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Colombia will hold the 1st Inclusive Job Fair for diverse people in Colombia.
  • Nearly 40 companies will participate in the fair with more than 1,600 vacancies available for this community.

  • In times of POST COVID, people in Colombia deserve new and better opportunities than they have had so far... especially if we talk about diverse populations that need to be more visible, more included and better treated.

The Bogota Chamber of Commerce - CCB and the Colombian LGBT Chamber of Commerce - CCLGBTCO signed an agreement to strengthen diversity, inclusion and equity in companies in Bogota and the 59 municipalities where the CCB has influence.

Therefore, next Friday, April 8, 2022, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (Chapinero headquarters located at Calle 67 # 8-32/44), will be the epicenter of this great employability fair for people with Diverse Sexual Orientations and Gender Identities - LGBTIQ+ in Colombia.

Both the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Colombia - CCLGBTCO confirmed that this first inclusive job fair, called EXPO Talento Diverso, will start at 9:30 a.m. and the entrance will be completely FREE, as a result of the joint efforts of these two prestigious entities.

The initiative seeks to generate links between people and employers who are committed to inclusion policies and the establishment of labor ties with the LGBTIQ+ community.

According to the most recent figures from DANE (GEIH, February 2022), between April and December 2021, the LGBTI population presented an average unemployment rate of 15.2%, while for the rest of the population it was 13%, reflecting a gap of 2.2 percentage points.

Therefore, this project aims to improve the working conditions of the LGBTIQ+ population in Colombia, creating strategies that facilitate employability in diverse and inclusive work environments, and that contribute to the consolidation of more productive and competitive companies.

Nicolás Uribe Rueda, president of the CCB, stated that "We are committed to the recovery of employment, and within the framework of our policy of gender equity, diversity and inclusion, we ratify the importance of the inclusion of all population groups through specific and high-impact actions, such as this job fair that will give diverse people the opportunity to access formal jobs in inclusive work environments".

According to the spokesperson of the ALLIANCE of the two chambers, namely: CCB & CCLGBTCO, the Fair has the active participation of companies such as: Grupo Aval, Ecopetrol, Falabella, IBM, Grupo Éxito, Lec Lee, Terpel, Jhonson and Jhonson, Wom, Diane & Geordi, Xperia, Diageo, Indra, Teleperformance, Quiromar, Aptuno, Theatron and Grupo Energía Bogotá.

This job fair has a differential approach for LGBTIQ people, however, everyone is welcome to attend and seek formal employment opportunities in a respectful coexistence with sexual diversity.
