New Food Safety Cluster

31 January 2024More than 11,200 farmers from Bogota and Cundinamarca will benefit from the new Food Security Cluster by the new Food Security Cluster of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.
  • The Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), together with public and private stakeholders and academia, launched the Food Safety Cluster, the first initiative of its kind in the world.

  • This program arose from the need to promote projects and initiatives that seek to facilitate clean and responsible food production, guarantee physical and economic access to food, and develop a nutritionally adequate supply for consumers.

  • According to the DANE, 28.1% of Colombian households - around 15.5 million people - were food insecure by 2022, and three out of every 10 households have the possibility of eating once or twice a day.

At the launching event, attendees learned about national and local commitments related to food security and the right to food, as well as international best practices for the Cluster Initiative to promote and implement programs, projects and specific support actions between the public and private sectors and the community in general, especially the productive force of the agricultural sector represented by the rural population of our city-region.

An innovative bet without international reference that promotes cleaner and responsible food production, physical and economic access to food, and a nutritionally adequate supply, responding to the guidelines of the National Development Plan 2022 - 2026 "Colombia World Power of Life".

The entity's value offer was shared to respond to the growth needs of companies and productive units related to the countryside, agribusiness and gastronomy, and an institutional and business showcase was held to learn about exercises related to food security to promote access, availability and adequacy of food at the local level.
