Colombian businessmen explore foreign trade opportunities

01 March 2023The CCB and the ICC World Federation of Chambers hold a series of meetings with businessmen, leaders and representatives of the private sector from different countries around the world.

In the first two days of programming, more than 1,000 people attended and topics such as responsible foreign trade, technology, sustainability, among others, were discussed.

Bogotá, D. C., March 1, 2023. The General Council of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) ended, a meeting in which the participants discussed international business opportunities for MSMEs in the country, digitization and innovation, action climate change, and women's business empowerment.

Within the scope of this meeting, the event "Business opportunities with the regions of the world" was held, which brought together representatives and leaders of 27 chambers of commerce, including María Fernanda Garza, president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); Francia Márquez, Vice President of the Republic of Colombia; Marie Christine-Oghly, First Vice President of the ICC WCF and Vice President of International Development of the Paris Region Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Nicolás Uribe Rueda, executive president of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and the World Federation of Chambers, mentioned:

From the Chamber and the Federation we continue working to improve access to markets for MSMEs in Bogotá and the Region and their development economic.

María Fernanda Garza, president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), affirmed that:

The business community must be ready to respond not only operationally, but in a way that supports governments towards the support of global interconnection.

Renewable energies and the new industrialization were some of the topics that were discussed in this conference, since green energies are one of the sales opportunities abroad, and it is in the sights of the large economies.

On the second day of the agenda, the programming was focused on global trends that impact leadership. Entrepreneurs and participants discussed with international experts about innovation and digitization for MSMEs, a key factor for the economic development of entrepreneurs around the world.

Another of the topics discussed by the experts was focused on trade opportunities in the agricultural sector, since exporting suppliers of products such as coffee and fruits, among others, are currently required, especially small producers. They expressed that the key to easily reach these markets is achieved through networking among the global Chambers of Commerce. Ideal space for small and medium-sized companies to take advantage of the opportunities for the development of their business.

For his part, Leonard Brody, a venture capitalist entrepreneur and innovation expert, commented:

MSMEs should be innovative, but they should not focus on trying to understand what artificial intelligence is, or blockchain. They must focus on understanding the needs of their market, of their consumer, and that will necessarily lead them to provide innovative and technological solutions.

The attendees participated in the discussions and will learn about the appropriate tools for MSMEs to become key actors of change, and how they can take advantage of the benefits of digitalization and position innovation at the center of their business strategy.
