140 gastronomic businesses selected for the second edition of Gastrofest, the Gastronomic Festival of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce

30 October 2023-Gastrofest, Gastronomic Festival of Bogota and the Region, organized by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, is an annual event that seeks to promote the development of the gastronomic and tourism industry in the city and its surroundings.
-The event will be held from November 3 to 19 in the city of Bogota and the province of Sabana Centro, comprising the municipalities of Cajicá, Chía, Cogua, Cota, Gachancipá, Nemocón, Sopó, Tabio, Tenjo, Tocancipá and Zipaquirá.

Bogota, October 26, 2023. After receiving more than 550 applications, the second edition of Gastrofest, the Gastronomic Festival of Bogota and the Region organized by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), will take place from November 3 to 19, with the participation of 140 gastronomic establishments with the purpose of exalting and promoting the gastronomic industry, tourism and its related sectors as fundamental pillars of the local economy of the region.

Of the total number of establishments selected, 71% (100 businesses) come from 15 of the 19 localities of Bogotá, with Chapinero (29), Usaquén (15) and Teusaquillo (11) standing out. On the other hand, the remaining 29% (40 businesses) belong to the province of Sabana Centro in Cundinamarca, with a greater participation of the municipalities of Zipaquirá (8), Chía (7) and Cajicá (7). It is the opportunity for the elite of the flavors that are cooking the savannah of Cundinamarca, fruit of the sowing of the farmers of the region and the appropriation of techniques to be competitive.

During this event the attendees will taste gastronomic offers that highlight the use of local products and flavors in different categories such as:

  • Signature Cuisine / Gourmet / Haute Gastronomy: Gastronomic establishments in which the Chef is able to express his own style through his cuisine. These businesses invest in knowledge, quality, service, offering a differential experience to the client. In this opportunity, in Bogota there are 13 businesses, while in Sabana Centro, five.

  • Casual Cuisine / Fast-Food: Establishments or restaurant chains that design their culinary experience based on preparations with quality ingredients, maintaining an informal cuisine, but giving priority to products and customer experience. Thirty-four businesses will participate in Bogota and 13 in Sabana Centro.

  • Traditional cuisine: Its specialty is based on dishes, cooking techniques or traditional preparations from Bogotá - Region or regions of Colombia. There are 15 restaurants in Bogota and nine in Sabana Centro.

  • Popular restaurant or local "corrientazo": Its offer focuses on the common, simple and popular. The menu, homemade, is traditional and varies on different days of the week, offering diners different options. Bogotá will have four participants, while Sabana Centro will have two.

  • Pastry Shops / Bakeries / Confectioneries: Their specialty focuses on the preparation of bread, pastries or cakes, highlighting the use of local ingredients and traditional or artisanal methods. In Bogotá there will be 16 businesses and four in Sabana Centro.

  • Coffee Shops: These are commercial establishments whose main offer is coffee as a beverage and that offer an experience to the client through knowledge of the product. Bogota will have 10 points and Sabana Centro two.

  • Craft breweries: These are establishments dedicated to the manufacture and commercialization of craft beers. Both Bogota and Sabana Centro will have a representative.

  • Gastrobars or restaurants with live music: These are businesses focused on the sale of alcoholic beverages to the public, accompanied by prepared food. They usually promote and provide the customer with an experience accompanied by live music shows and the like. Bogota will have six participants, while Sabana Centro will have one.

  • Hotel restaurants: These are establishments located inside or next to hotels and whose offer is aimed at tourists staying at the hotel. Bogota will have one representative and Sabana Centro will have three.

Gastrofest also offers a mentoring process to those selected at no cost, which includes a business diagnosis for the selected establishments, and a digital showcase through social networks where participants can showcase their culinary proposals.

The CCB invites citizens passionate about gastronomy and the discovery of new flavors to participate in the festival, access menus at special rates and thus contribute to the development of the food chain that these businesses represent with their culinary offerings and opportunities for complementary enjoyment with tourism plans in their area of influence.
