The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce launches the Silver Economy Cluster

Bogotá, March 2026. The Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá (CCB) announces the launch of the Economy Cluster Plateada, a strategic initiative that seeks to transform aging population in an opportunity for business development, innovation and economic growth for Bogotá–Region.

The official launch will take place on March 11, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. m. to 12:00 m., at the Cafam Theater, and will bring together businessmen, entrepreneurs, academia, public sector, social organizations and older people, with the purpose of articulating capabilities and promoting business solutions oriented towards new longevity.

A economic opportunity for the business fabric

Bogotá is going through a structural demographic change: currently, about 15% of the population - more than 1.2 million people - is 60 years old or older, and in less than Two decades this proportion will double. This phenomenon is redefining the consumption patterns, demand for services and market opportunities in sectors such as health, care, housing, tourism, well-being, technology, finance, culture and recreation.

In the city there are more than 1,000 registered care centers, about 50% created in the last five years, which shows an expanding market. Furthermore, older people are not only consumers: they are also actors key to the business fabric, since 23.8% of business owners with commercial registration is 60 years or older, surpassing other age groups.

Front In this context, the Silver Economy Cluster - initiative number 20 of the CCB Cluster Strategy - is consolidated as a platform for business articulation that will connect specialized knowledge, technical support, intersectoral co-creation and access to development opportunities market for companies that develop or want to develop products and services aimed at this segment.

Impact projected in competitiveness and innovation

To 2026, the initiative projects:

  • Benefit more of 1,100 companies.

  • Accompany the at least 200 business models aimed at the elderly population.

  • Perform 200 business maturity diagnoses with intervention plans.

  • Strengthen care centers and promote high-impact projects.

It estimates a potential of more than 8,000 companies directly related to this market and thousands additional with high potential for diversification towards silver economy.

The launch will mark the beginning of a new stage of collaborative work between companies, academia, public sector and social organizations to develop solutions that respond to the needs of an aging society, promoting senior entrepreneurship, innovation in care services and the design of products adapted to this population segment.
