Bogota, May 30, 2024. The Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), in line with its commitment to generate better companies in Bogota and the region, will hold the #SomosSostenibles event on June 6 and 12. This space seeks to mobilize the conversation around the importance of environmental sustainability, climate change management, water and circular economy, to strengthen the capacities of companies in Bogota and the Region, and thus support their economic growth and generation of value for society.

According to the results and findings of the Decarbonization and Climate Action Survey conducted by the CCB in 2023, 66.3% of companies are familiar with the concept of climate change, but only 28.2% understand the concept of decarbonization and another 20.9% understand carbon neutrality. It was also noted that 64.5% are not aware of any regulations or public policies associated with climate change in the country; 80.7% of the companies have not measured their carbon footprint; and 78.8% state that they do not have a program or plan to reduce their environmental impact.

Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce stated that “At the Bogota Chamber of Commerce we are committed to sustainability, which is why we develop different programs and initiatives that seek to promote sustainable businesses from an economic, social and environmental point of view. To learn about trends and continue promoting sustainability, we will hold the #SomosSostenibles event, where we will bring micro, small, medium and large companies closer to tools that will allow them to have a profitable operation capable of generating social and environmental value for new and future generations", he said.

The event, on June 6, in Bogota, will feature different panels and workshops, highlighting among these:

● Sustainability on the plate: sustainable strategies from the food chain - Simón Vieira, Sustainability Director of Wok Restaurant.

● Climate, water and business: the role of companies in a sustainable future - Ángela Garzón, Vice President of Public-Private Articulation of the CCB.

● The Impact of CCB clusters on business sustainability practices- Juan Carlos González, Vice President of Competitiveness of the CCB.

● Business Success Cases “Triple Impact Experiences” - Juan David Castaño, Vice President of Business Strengthening of the CCB.
