Bogotá, February 20, 2023. Entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises and productive solidarity economy organizations that require advice related to legal matters such as tax payments, access to bank credits, electronic payroll, formalization, among other topics, may attend the Legal Clinic project. Business and Entrepreneurship, first in Colombia, which will be part of the Legal Office of the Universidad de los Andes.
This project, with the support of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), is especially aimed at enterprises, micro-enterprises and productive solidarity economy organizations of vulnerable populations, such as migrants, people with disabilities, the LGBTI population, mothers who are heads of households, displaced persons. , population sentenced and post-penalized, among others.
In addition, as part of the project, work will also be done on rights pedagogy, tax culture, the creation of the entrepreneur route and strategic litigation, among other strategies that seek to facilitate access for citizens.
In this way, through the Legal Office of the Uniandes Law School, legal professionals and students in the last semesters of the degree will monitor the cases, offer advice and routes to resolve doubts, as well as legal support, among other services.
Nicolás Uribe Rueda, president of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce stated that “At CCB we aim to strengthen the recognition and protection of the rights of businessmen and women. Creating this new service with the Universidad de los Andes becomes a milestone as it is the first legal clinic project specialized in entrepreneurship and employability at the country level. We are convinced that it will have a positive impact on our businessmen and women, and we hope it will become a replicable model that strengthens the dialogue between the private sector and academy.”
For the Uniandes Law School, this exercise will allow the experiential learning of the students, who will have the possibility of putting into practice the clinical learning acquired in the Legal Office and for the CCB it will be the possibility of offering new solutions for entrepreneurs. .
Renata Amaya, co-director of the project, assured that: “We will carry out legal brigades in the different offices of the Chamber of Commerce, we will have legal empowerment workshops, we will learn together to do clinical work. In this way, the students, with their knowledge put at the service of the citizenry, will be the main actors”.
