Bogota, August 14, 2024. The CEO and co-founder of Global66, Chilean Tomás Bercovich, said Thursday that conditions are currently optimal for developing entrepreneurship in Latin America, as there is more capital available and attracting talent is easier than before.

He said this when announcing his participation in Gofest 2024, the Bogota entrepreneurship festival organized by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, to be held from August 28 to 30 this year at the Agora Bogota Convention Center.

Global66, the first South American company to establish an alliance with six-time UEFA Champions League champion Bayern Munich, is a financial platform designed for individuals and companies that want to make or receive international payments.

“Today is a good time to be an entrepreneur, the planets are aligned. There is capital and it is easier to attract talent than before. It used to be very difficult to convince someone to come and work for a startup. Today, for a certain profile of people, it is very attractive to come to a startup and be part of this path (...), today is the time to be an entrepreneur in Latin America,” said Bercovich.

When asked about the attributes that a country or a city should have as an investment destination, he explained that it should attract top-level entrepreneurs, generate incentives, have updated regulations and a long-term vision, in addition to offering stability and clear rules of the game for investors.

Regarding the recommendations that an entrepreneur who seeks to have a successful business should follow, he said that he should have a talented team, meet the needs of the market by improving the existing offer, focus on the customer and create a long-term strategy.

In addition, he stated that he attends events that add value, where high-level entrepreneurs are present and where productive connections can be made, conditions that Gofest meets. “It is clear that Gofest is one of the events where you have to be,” he said.

Tomás Bercovich will speak at the founder talk 'The purpose of being global' on August 28 at 11:50 a.m. in the main auditorium of Agora Bogotá Convention Center.

It is never too late for entrepreneurship

Another of the ecosystem leaders who will be present at Gofest is the Colombian Daniel Bilbao, CEO and co-founder of Truora, a digital platform to prevent bank fraud and make financial procedures more user-friendly.

When giving details of his career as an entrepreneur, he said: “My entrepreneurial career began at 33 or 34 years old. It is never too late to become an entrepreneur and get into this world”.

Regarding the attractions that Colombia and Bogota should offer as investment destinations, he said that there should be successful companies at regional level and work to strengthen the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship.

“When you have a stronghold, the rest of society feels that something is possible,” he said. He also stressed the contribution of startups to address current challenges, such as increasing financial inclusion indicators or contributing to effective access to education.

He also offered some advice for those entrepreneurs who are starting to walk their way in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem: surround yourself with entrepreneurs, look for inspirational scenarios and support the ecosystem to generate a collaborative mindset.

Finally, referring to Gofest, he concluded: “All the good things that are happening in Bogota are being concentrated in Gofest. It is an event that generates a lot of pride for the city and for the country”.

Bilbao will lead the talk 'Building high performance teams' which will take place this August 29 from 9:20 to 9:55 a.m.
