In commemoration of the International Day of MSMEs, which is celebrated on June 27, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce highlights the work of those who support employment in Bogota and the Region. The number of active MSMEs is 392,180, of which 365,033 are micro, 21,020 are small, and 6,127 are medium-sized, according to data from the commercial registry as of May 2022.
According to the same data, this is a service region. Of the 392,180 active MSMEs in Bogotá and the 59 municipalities of the CCB jurisdiction, 211,734 belong to the service sector, 127,279 to the commerce sector, and 53,167 to the industry sector. Twenty-five percent of the companies are led by women (96,643), 32% by men (123,970) and 44% do not report gender or do not apply to legal entities.
Nicolás Uribe Rueda, president of the CCB stated that "great recognition must be given to the miymes, which represent 99% of the business fabric in the case of Bogota and the region, and are the ones who have led the process of consolidation of the reactivation in Colombia. The private sector generates 96% of employment in the country and it is not minor that MSMEs are the largest part of the private sector. From the CCB our commitment is with the formalization, strengthening, training and support of this segment of companies".
Precisely, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce has more than 600 free services for MSMEs, so much so that in the last eight years 231,563 of these companies have benefited from the CCB's business strengthening services.
Services available to MSMEs
With free tools, we provide personalized support and follow-up according to the specific needs of each business, so that they can identify their current needs, implement solutions, measure the results, grow and emerge from this situation. Since 2020, more than 310,000 people have accessed these services. There they find training spaces, personalized advice, e-commerce platforms, as well as the possibility of establishing contact with other entrepreneurs and customers, exploring sectoral opportunities, and access to content on technology, financing, administrative management, among others.
The CCB has available the Bazzarbog platform, a free digital showcase that promotes the commercialization of companies' products by facilitating the connection between them and buyers. To date, more than 23,580 products are on Bazzarbog.
Negocia is a platform for entrepreneurs to do B2B business and thus expand their suppliers and customers. Through this initiative, there is a business community of 4,908 companies in 38 municipalities other than Bogota and 11 different countries.
The Digital Transformation School is a site where companies can access training programs, free personalized support and technological tools to implement in their day-to-day business. This operates 7/24 and deals with topics such as: digital marketing, online sales, process automation, optimization of operations with technology, web analytics, logistics for e-commerce, and digital payments, among others.
The most important volunteer network in the country is available to companies, with more than 547 mentors. By 2022, the goal is that this network can collectively serve to create more and better entrepreneurs and companies and achieve a more prosperous and equitable society.
For sectoral needs, there are 10 programs focused on economic reactivation, including programs for the food and gastronomy sector; the health sector; real estate; hairdressers, spas and wellness; drugstores and health food stores, among others.
The CCB has also permeated the business culture of the Bogota Region with the inclusion of e-learning in its portfolio of services, through comfortable and efficient methodologies and short and dynamic formats, offering fast and effective learning with tips and solutions to accelerate processes and close business gaps. In 2021, this commitment made it possible to offer more than 900 activities and have 51,112 businessmen and entrepreneurs attend.
