Bogotá, D.C. june of 2026. The Chamber of International Commerce (ICC) and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB) signed a cooperation agreement that seeks to strengthen commercial justice and development of international arbitration in Latin America. This alliance Strategic strategy articulates the ICC's global experience with regional reach of the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the CCB to consolidate the country as a reference in the resolution of international disputes.
In this regard, Ovidio Claros Polanco, executive president of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, pointed out that “this collaboration will promote the arbitration in Latin America. It unites two entities recognized for their efforts to strengthen alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, and Their union can only generate significant results for the community legal and business”.
For his part, Alexander Fessas, secretary general of the Court International Arbitration Court of ICC, stated: “by deepening our cooperation In Latin America, the ICC supports the continued development of health services efficient and high-quality dispute resolution, aligned with the best international practices. Our alliance with the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce demonstrates how global and regional institutions can work together to generate tangible benefits for arbitration users.”
What does the agreement contemplate?
Under this cooperation, both institutions will collaborate in three strategic areas: dispute resolution services, education specialized services and preferential access to shared infrastructure. This alliance will contribute to strengthening the international ecosystem of dispute resolution and will generate concrete benefits for companies, arbitrators and users of the arbitration system.
First of all, arbitration and the mechanisms alternative dispute resolution (ADR) through joint initiatives and coordinated dissemination activities, with the purpose of expanding the knowledge about international standards, strengthen confidence in cross-border processes and promote arbitration as an effective mechanism for the settlement of international commercial disputes.
In the academic field, the professional development of the actors of the arbitration ecosystem, highlighting the realization of the ICC FIDIC Conference, which will take place at the Salitre Business Center of the CCB on October 15 and 16, 2026.
Finally, the CCB and ICC will make their training centers available audiences with preferential rates to improve logistics efficiency in three key cities: Bogotá, São Paulo and Paris.
Julian Kassum, deputy general secretary of the Chamber of Commerce International, highlighted that “at the heart of this cooperation is the power of networking: bringing together the ICC global community and strong connections regional offices of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce to expand opportunities, share knowledge and support the continuous development of mechanisms of dispute resolution in Latin America.”
Regional platform for dispute management
This cooperation, based on ICC's history and the role strategic of the CCB, positions Bogotá and Colombia as a regional platform for the administration of international disputes. The alliance generates concrete benefits such as greater legal certainty supported by both institutions, competitive rates and first-class infrastructure in Bogotá and at the ICC headquarters. Likewise, it will promote high-level training provided by world references for local lawyers and will open a window of international projection for Colombian companies that participate in global trade disputes.
