The president of the CCB was elected today vice-president of AICO for the Andean Region.

08 October 2024- Ovidio Claros Polanco, executive president of the CCB was elected vice-president for the Andean Region at the General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association of Chambers of Commerce - AICO, held in Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. October 8, 2024. The Ibero-American Association of Chambers of Commerce - AICO in Buenos Aires, the most important group of Chambers of Commerce in Latin America, which brings together almost 60 business organizations from the continent and Spain, made the announcement during the 51st. General Assembly, held today in Buenos Aires.

Claros Polanco, as vice-president of the Association for the Andean Region, will have the mission of consolidating and expanding AICO's presence. His leadership will focus on finding and promoting new business opportunities for entrepreneurs, especially the smaller ones, opening markets, strengthening strategic intra-chamber alliances and promoting sustainable development in the Andean countries.

During the General Assembly, the organization expressed confidence in Claros Polanco's ability to lead the continuity that AICO has developed over the years in the construction of solid networks and the implementation of projects that benefit the chambers of commerce, as a basis for ensuring sustainable and equitable growth in the Andean region.

For his part, Claros commented: “I am grateful for the gesture of trust placed in me and in the Bogota Chamber of Commerce to lead this role. This appointment is a recognition of the effort and dedication of the CCB in promoting the internationalization, digitalization and sustainability of companies in Bogota and throughout the region”.

The appointment of Ovidio Claros reinforces the commitment of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce with the entire Andean region, betting on initiatives that promote small businessmen, entrepreneurs and subjects of the popular economy, so that they have access to the scenarios that lead to business progress.

He mentioned the potential of technical and human resources of the nearly 60 members of the organization, which should be directed to strengthen solid business ecosystems where knowledge and experiences are shared, strengthen capacities and good practices for all types of entrepreneurs and especially those facing the challenges of sustainability.   About AICO

AICO, is the international, collective and voluntary, non-profit organization that associates and brings together the Chambers of Commerce, Associations or Corporations and related entities of the countries of the American continent and the Iberian Peninsula.

It currently has more than 60 members and 12 active commissions. Colombia currently has 13 chambers of commerce as members. It is the country with the most adherent chambers after Spain.
