Bogota, August 3, 2023. The boards of directors of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and Corferias and the Mayor of Bogota, Claudia Lopez Hernandez, held a meeting on Thursday, August 3, to reaffirm the commitment to work together with the different actors of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem of the city and the country, towards the materialization of the Science, Technology and Innovation Campus of Bogota Region. It was agreed to continue working jointly on the two lines of the project: i) the planning instruments for the area and its strategic action to materialize the principles of the POT, and ii) to begin construction of the headquarters building on the site where the Gran Carpa Américas of Corferias currently operates, located in the geographic epicenter and confluence of major projects and strategic urban actions in Bogota.

The Campus will consolidate the articulation of the productive sector, public-private institutions, academia and citizens to strengthen the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem and to contribute to closing the existing gaps and thus strengthen human talent and the competitiveness of entrepreneurs and small, medium and large businessmen as a contribution to the social and economic transformation of the country.

At the meeting, the parties ratified their commitment to contribute with the necessary investment and resources, given the importance of the public-private effort for the development of the Science, Technology and Innovation Campus of the Bogota Region.

Within the project schedule, it was announced that, given the progress in the architectural design by the Gensler+Mazzanti consortium (winner of the international architectural competition developed with the support of the Colombian Society of Architects), it is planned to request the construction license for the main building of the Campus before the end of 2023 and to deliver the headquarters building, offices and complementary services of the Science, Technology and Innovation Campus of Bogota-Region to the citizens and the country in December 2026. The approximate estimated investment for this first phase amounts to $465,000 million pesos, which will be contributed by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Corferias, the Mayor's Office and other relevant stakeholders of the city's entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.

The construction of the headquarters building will be the starting point for the urban renewal of the 247 hectares of the Campus' area of influence, with the aim of consolidating a pilot of an intelligent and green city with all its services less than 15 minutes away, following the guidelines of the Strategic Action and Master Plan developed with the participation of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Corferias, the District Secretaries of Economic Development and Planning, and the city's Urban Renewal Company (RENOBO).

This city-regional project will be articulated with other major urban projects such as the Partial Urban Renewal Plan of the Bavaria Triangle, the construction of the Regiotram de Occidente and Norte, the Bogotá Metro and the new mobility projects on Avenida de las Américas, among others, to consolidate a new and better way of living in the city.

Finally, at the meeting, Mayor Claudia López and her secretaries of Economic Development and Planning delivered the decree adopting the Corferias + Empresa de Acueducto Partial Urban Renewal Plan, which becomes the urban planning instrument that will allow the construction of the headquarters building of the Bogotá Science, Innovation and Technology Campus and will trigger the urban renewal and social and economic revitalization that the project aims to achieve.
