The Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce active free and virtual conciliation campaign in law for conflicts commercial and family services to those affected by the earthquake damage

The entity will provide the service free of charge to people affected by the natural disaster that present difficulties with lease contracts, home or commercial establishment insurance policies, custody, food and minors and older adults, visits, among other conflicts, derived from the damage caused by the earthquake. Bogotá, August 2026. In order to continue contributing to the victims of the earthquake, the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce will provide those affected in the following Departments: Valle del Cauca, Caldas, Quindío, Chocó and Risaralda, the legal conciliation service free of charge and virtually to resolve conflicts related to issues family, their homes and commercial establishments.

The initiative is led by the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, and will provide support to those who, as a result of the natural disaster, have difficulties related to rental contracts, housing or commercial establishment insurance policies, among other conflicts derived from the damage caused by the earthquake.

Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, stated that "In times like this, our commitment is to be close to people and put our capabilities at the service of those who need it most. From the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce we want to facilitate access to conciliation mechanisms so that affected people can find alternatives to resolve their conflicts quickly, free of charge and without having to travel. This is a concrete way to accompany families and businessmen who today face the consequences of this natural disaster."

Normally, this type of conciliation processes can have a cost ranging between $500,000 and up to 23 current monthly legal minimum wages. However, as a measure of support for the affected people, these services will be offered at no cost to those who have been affected.

Gustavo Andrés Piedrahita, director of the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, pointed out: “we must differentiate between the equity conciliation service that this Center already provides and which has always been free, with the Conciliation in Law service, which is the one we are activating free of charge, only for "This differs from the first in that the agreements reached have the same effects as a court ruling."
