Bogota, September 2023. The twelfth edition of the Bogota Music Market - BOmm will take place from September 11 to 15, a program that for twelve years has been consolidating itself as the stage to cultivate and grow the Colombian music scene, and this year takes the stage of the National Center for the Arts Delia Zapata Olivella (Calle 11 # 5 - 60). For this edition, the components will be enriched through a special focus on the music of the Colombian Pacific, seeking to highlight and celebrate the sounds and wisdom of this region.
Taking into account artistic quality, originality and commercial potential, a group of expert curators of the country's music scene evaluated all the proposals, grouped by genre, and selected the 226 artists who will participate in the Business Roundtables, Showcases, BOmm Nights and other components of the market.
The artists and groups with the highest scores awarded by the curators are chosen to perform live before national and international festivals, programmers, bookers, concert hall representatives, advertising agencies, media centers and other music demanders.
In the interest of opening more opportunities for marketing, circulation and visibility of musical proposals developed in the Colombian Pacific region, the Showcases program will include a large number of formats and groups from this region of the country. These shows, with an approximate duration of 15 minutes, will be held at the Teatro Colón and Delia Zapata Olivella halls of the National Center for the Arts.
Among the outstanding presentations are those of Nidia Góngora (Timbiquí, Cauca | folklore genre), singer and researcher of the traditional music of the Colombian South Pacific; Verito Asprilla (Tumaco, Nariño | urban genre), emerging artist of the biogeographic Chocó; Julio Victoria Live Band (Armenia, Quindio | electronic genre), who has brought the sounds of the Pacific coast and the eastern plains to electronic music; Andy Caicedo (Cali, Valle del Cauca - Quibdó, Chocó | salsa genre) singer, composer and producer who has been nominated for a Latin Grammy; and Estrellas del Caribe (San Basilio de Palenque, Bolívar | Colombian beats genre), a group that fuses ancestral music, chants and traditional instruments with the sounds of the Colombian music.
