Bogotá, July 2025. Double runner-up in the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France runner-up, Olympic medalist, and entrepreneur Rigoberto Urán, along with culinary influencer Estiwar G, will participate in the second edition of +Talante, the popular and solidarity economy festival organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), taking place from July 17 to 20 at Ágora Bogotá – Convention Center.

The event will also feature appearances by well-known figures such as online sales expert JuanMa Gaviria; entrepreneur Karen Carvajalino; urban singer Juan Palau; TV host Ana Milena Gutiérrez, among others.

Ovidio Claros Polanco, Executive President of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, stated:

“With the aim of making the popular economy truly popular—meaning to highlight and give the best to the popular and solidarity economy—we’ve put together a first-rate lineup for +Talante. With names like Rigo, Estiwar G, JuanMa, Karen Carvajalino, and Juan Palau, among others, we are proud to say that every expert joining us is a true business reference and an example of courage and tenacity.

They are the protagonists of success stories that inspire us both as people and as entrepreneurs.”

For his part, Rigoberto Urán said:

“I’ll be at +Talante this July 17 in Bogotá, sharing experiences with all of you so we can keep working hard for our businesses and ventures. See you there.”

Estiwar G added:

“I’m really happy. I’ll be giving a talk at the Chamber of Commerce. All of you—entrepreneurs, people who are working hard on your brands—can attend for free. I’ll be there on July 18.”

Attendees of +Talante can access the event free of charge. Under the theme “I’m popular”, it also features a commercial exhibition of more than 600 popular economy businesses, over 90 expert-led talks, a marathon of advisory sessions, 40 workshops, financial and employment networking opportunities, a farmers’ market, and more.

The Popular Economy in Numbers

Claros Polanco added: “The institutional commitment to supporting the growth of the popular and solidarity economy is no coincidence. On the contrary, it’s a strategic and highly relevant decision that aligns with the business landscape of Bogotá and the surrounding region, as shown by the numbers.”

According to the 2024 Survey on Entrepreneurship and the Popular Economy, conducted by the CCB:

77.8% of businesses with a commercial registration identify as part of the popular economy.

88.7% of popular economy business owners employ fewer than five people.

48.2% of them report having debts. Among these:

67.5% borrow from banks

22.6% from suppliers

17.8% from family and friends

Regarding how the borrowed money is used:

48.3% goes toward purchasing supplies or raw materials

19.3% to cover operating expenses

17.9% to pay off or refinance existing debts

Additionally, the study found that 35.5% of businesses in the popular economy do not separate personal/family finances from business finances.
