The Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB) launched the second edition of the Commercial Custom Research Contest, which seeks to encourage students to identify and postulate commercial practices that are not in the research stage or have already been certified by the CCB as a commercial custom.

The contest is open to teams of three (3) students led by a professor from the same university, who will represent the institution they belong to. Universities may participate with several teams as long as there are no repeated students in the groups.

The research work must take into account the requirements of the law for the internship to be certified as a business custom and include a field study of at least five (5) companies where the application of the internship is verified. Commercial customs are practices carried out by the people of an economic sector, in a uniform, reiterated and public manner, which can be certified and can be required in business. For example, in commerce, the value of VAT must be included in the quoted price; in the publishing sector, the 30-day term to sell or return books; and in the transfer in the purchase and sale of used private vehicles, the expenses are borne equally by the buyer and the seller. Timeline of the contest: • Students registered before August 19, 2022, must send the research essay to the e-mail address: correspondencia@ccb.org.co no later than September 2, 2022 at 11:59 p. m. with the subject: Second Commercial Custom Research Contest. • The review of entries and selection of finalists will take place between September 5 and 8, 2022 by experts in the field, who will select the three finalists. • The BCC will publish the finalists on September 9, 2022. • The finalists will have to present their research papers orally to the jurors on September 22, 2022, who will select the winning teams. Prizes • First place: The members of the winning team (students and faculty) will attend as special guests to the National and International Arbitration Congress: An Arbitration Center for the Americas, which will be held on October 5-7, 2022 in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia. The prize includes tickets (round trip), accommodation for the duration of the Congress and the registration fee. It does not include food and transportation. • Second place: the members of the second place team (students and teacher) will have the right to choose one (1) diploma course or one (1) seminar from the catalog offered for the second semester of the year 2022 by the CCB Training Management. • Third place: the members of the third place team (students and teacher) will have the right to choose one (1) seminar from the catalog offered for the second semester of the year 2022 by the CCB Training Management.
