Bogotá, June 2025

From July 15 to 18, the auditorium of Gimnasio Moderno will once again become the epicenter of critical thinking, audiovisual reflection, and encounters with influential voices from the audiovisual industry. As part of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market – BAM, taking place from July 14 to 18—a program by Proimágenes Colombia and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce with support from the Film Development Fund—a new edition of BAM Talks will be held. This free, open-to-the-public space will feature 11 unmissable talks with top-level national and international guests.

From auteur cinema to reggaeton, including production design, equity, and the streaming economy, BAM Talks 2025 offers a journey through the ideas, territories, and bodies that are transforming contemporary audiovisual culture.

Lucrecia Martel and other major voices in the audiovisual industry come to BAM 2025

Lucrecia Martel, one of the most influential filmmakers in contemporary Latin American cinema, will headline the BAM Talks program and will also be featured in a retrospective in collaboration with the Cinemateca de Bogotá. With films like La Ciénaga, Zama, and The Headless Woman, Martel will share her vision on the political and aesthetic power of the image.

From China, Wang Bing—a radical documentarian and master of observational cinema—will reflect on the art of using the camera to accompany processes and lives that are often left out of the frame.

Mexican digital artist Tupac Martir, a globally renowned creator of visual experiences for artists such as Beyoncé, Alexander McQueen, and Elton John, will give a talk on the convergence of art, technology, and the human body. An invitation to imagine possible futures through sensory experimentation.

Conversations for reflection (and transformation)

Who owns this industry? Under this provocative question, an urgent conversation will unfold: The Meaning of Equity in the Audiovisual Industry, with Themba Bhebhe, former Diversity Officer at the Berlinale’s European Film Market, and Paula Moreno, former Minister of Culture and director of Manos Visibles. This talk will focus on the bodies, territories, and narratives that have been systematically excluded from decision-making spaces in the audiovisual world.

From the perspective of humor and representation, Mexican actor and comedian Kike Vázquez (Ojitos de Huevo, Netflix) and Colombian-Canadian Pamela Ospina will share how comedy can heal what once hurt—and how laughter can also be a form of resistance.

Cinema, music, and platforms

From Puerto Rico, the creative duo Arleen Cruz and Ari Manuel Cruz will present the behind-the-scenes experience of the audiovisual work for Bad Bunny’s album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, in a talk that brings together reggaeton, film, rebellion, and mainstream narrative.

Thanks to a partnership with the Colombian Film Academy, three key production design talents from Latin America will gather to discuss Netflix’s mega-productions: María Battaglia (El Eternauta), Carlos Jacques (Pedro Páramo), and Bárbara Enríquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude) will share what it takes to create narrative worlds for the platform’s major regional projects.

Data, industry, and premieres

Jaime Otero, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Parrot Analytics, will give a crucial talk on the present and future of streaming: intellectual property valuation, platform economics, and global entertainment trends.

And as a special closing event for BAM Talks, Delirio—a series premiering on July 18—will be presented in a conversation about the boundaries of thrillers, independent production, and the power of storytelling in the digital age. The full lineup and guest list for BAM Talks will be revealed on July 1 on BAM’s social media.
