Bogotá, April 2025. This week, on April 2 and 3, the VII Congress on Dispute Resolution Mechanisms will be held, organized by the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), in which the entity reaffirms its commitment to the consolidation of an environment conducive to the effective resolution of disputes in the country.
Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the evolution of Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (DRM) and the fundamental role that Chambers of Commerce have played in their development. He stated that “The business sector has found in the CRMs a reliable and efficient tool, with a sustained growth in arbitration, conciliation and mediation”.
Currently, the CCB's Arbitration and Conciliation Center handles more than 5,000 conciliations and 290 national arbitration cases per year, consolidating its position as the largest in the country. In addition, in recent years there has been evidence of an increase in environmental mediation and international arbitration, with more than 150 cases administered since 2014.
In addition, the CCB has led important social initiatives, such as the Hermes school mediation program, which has trained more than 50,000 youth mediators in 550 schools in Bogota and the region, as well as conciliation in equity, which has allowed the resolution of more than 4,700 conflicts in vulnerable communities.
During the event, the president of the CCB will call for the importance of coordination between the government, academia, the judicial branch, the private sector and civil society, in order to consolidate a more agile, accessible and efficient conflict resolution ecosystem for all citizens.
