Bogota, April 15, 2024. The Bogota Chamber of Commerce is committed to the security of Bogota and the region and to facilitating access to justice as a contribution to a better business environment.
For this reason, it held a dialogue with academia with more than 20 deans of law schools of universities in the city-region with the purpose of contributing to the formulation and implementation of public policy on security and justice.
The CCB, in its 145 years of history, has been a protagonist in the construction of security policies and, for the past 25 years, has been conducting the Perception and Victimization Survey, monitoring security issues in the city, contributing decisively in this aspect, as well as in the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Ovidio Claros Polanco, executive president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, stated that "We are pleased to contribute with effective solutions in an articulated manner of access to justice. Working collectively will allow us to make public policy recommendations that impact and improve current problems".
The entity has been committed over time with national and local governments and their institutions, promoting actions and strategies that benefit citizens and our entrepreneurs.
This event was attended by deans and delegates of law programs. In accordance with the security figures on crimes such as homicide, personal injury, theft from persons, theft from commerce and extortion, an open and participatory dialogue was opened in which the universities raised challenges and alternatives in the articulation of academia, the private sector and public institutions, to accompany and strengthen the effectiveness and access to justice.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that the CCB will lead a technical space that will meet periodically, working on actions within the framework of five main proposals on knowledge management, advocacy and articulation. Likewise, it will support the implementation of the new Law on Legal Consultancies - Law 2113 of 2021 - and its direct dialogue with the justice system.
