The Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Corferias and the Secretariat of Economic Development of Bogota, partners of the project that will deliver to the city the District of Science, Technology and Innovation of Bogota - Region (DCTIB), held the architectural design competition that will define the infrastructure of the first phase of the District and the master plan of the area of influence.

The competition supported by the Colombian Society of Architects had a jury composed of 5 architects of recognized trajectory and experience at the national and international level: Ignacio Alcalde Marcos (Spain), Cristian Undurraga Saavedra (Chile), Rodrigo Rubio Vollert (Colombia), Juan Pablo Ortiz Suárez (Colombia), and Leonardo Álvarez Yépez (Colombia), who were in charge of evaluating in detail the proposals submitted by the four shortlisted proponents within the framework of the public invitation opened in January 2022. The winner of the competition was the Mazzanti - Gensler consortium, composed of the Mazzanti Team, led by renowned architect Giancarlo Mazzanti, and the global architecture, design and planning firm, Gensler, which today has 52 offices in Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East and the Americas.

The proposal stood out for presenting a design that functions as a system that can be adapted to the future stages and development needs of the complex with a special treatment of public space that permeates the infrastructure, flowing through the plazas to the very interior of the building, offering unconventional meeting spaces and creative friction that go up through the interior of the building, promoting a new exemplary urban dimension, which will be the foundation of the District of Science, Technology and Innovation of Bogota-Region. Its notoriety and innovation are also manifested in a powerful image through a facade that evokes the Bogota tradition of brick with an innovative design technique that forms a fabric as the building's skin, which changes in density to respond to its internal uses and its connection with the exterior.

In addition, the winning proposal encourages the meeting and interaction between the different actors, both those involved in the private and public areas of the building, which is essential in the processes of innovation and development of new scientific and technological proposals. The winning project will be presented to the public at an event to be held in the coming days, where the scope of the architectural design and the fundamentals of the master plan of the area of influence that will make possible the materialization of the DCTIB will be known.
