Bogotá, D.C., August 6, 2025 — The celebration of Bogotá’s 487th anniversary began with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bogotá Science, Technology, and Innovation Campus (CTIB). The event was led by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán; Ovidio Claros, President of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB); Andrés López Valderrama, CEO of Corferias; and María del Pilar López, Secretary of Economic Development.
“Today we begin Bogotá’s birthday with this very important announcement. It is yet another demonstration that we must come together and work as a city to deliver results. This Science, Technology, and Innovation Campus of the Bogotá Region is proof that working together can have a multiplier effect for the city,” said Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán.
With a public-private investment of over COP $535 billion—of which the CCB will contribute $254 billion, Corferias $57 billion, the District $85 billion, the National Learning Service (SENA) $76 billion, and the compensation funds $63 billion—this space will become the epicenter for collaboration among businesses, academia, government, and citizens around innovative and technological projects that will drive the economic and social development of the capital and its surrounding region.
“The CTIB is a public-private investment that not only transforms a strategic area of the city but also boosts productivity, innovation, and business competitiveness. Over 13,600 jobs will be created during its construction, and once operational, it will become the most important ecosystem in the Bogotá Region for entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and companies that see knowledge as a driver of development,” stated Ovidio Claros, President of the CCB.
The CTIB will transform 247 hectares in the western part of Bogotá, integrating quality infrastructure, public space, bike paths, and new facilities for health, education, culture, and sports—ultimately improving the quality of life for the city’s residents.
Regarding this, Corferias CEO Andrés López Valderrama said: “At Corferias, we are proud to be a key part of this initiative—not only by providing the physical space to make this vision a reality but also by offering our expertise to transform this area into a true strategic epicenter for Bogotá. This campus will drive comprehensive urban renewal and generate synergies with our District of Fairs, Events, and Conventions. Additionally, it will allow us to extend the benefits of our Service Export Free Trade Zone to those who establish themselves in the area, thereby consolidating its development and international projection.”
This major project will include a 23-story main building with two basements, a rooftop terrace, laboratories, and specialized service areas for interaction and collaboration between entrepreneurs, businesses, academia, and investors. It will also feature coworking and office spaces.
Following a rigorous and transparent selection process through public calls, the CTIB Fiduciary Committee awarded the contracts for Phase 1A of the main building to three highly qualified consortia: the Ciencia e Innovación Consortium for overall project management, the Alianza CCB Consortium for technical oversight, and the Cámara Bogotá 2025 Consortium for construction. The building is expected to be completed in 2028.
In parallel with the construction, the District Administration announced that a pilot of the CTIB Service Model will begin in the second half of 2025. This program is designed to support startups, science- and technology-based ventures, and MSMEs in their innovation, digitalization, and market access processes.
The pilot will be led by the Secretariat of Economic Development and Bogotá’s District Agency for Higher Education, Science, and Technology (ATENEA), with an investment of COP $12.151 billion to initially support 130 startups and companies in the city.
The Bogotá Science, Technology, and Innovation Campus (CTIB) is made possible through the collaboration of the Bogotá Mayor’s Office, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Corferias, Compensar, Cafam, and SENA—under a public-private management model that will promote strategic, high-value investments in technology-intensive sectors.
