Cubel, inaugural catwalk BFW 2023

In this version of Bogotá Fashion Week 2023, designer Humberto Cubides will present a collection that takes a tour of weaving and embroidery techniques that he has been developing with artisans from Cundinamarca and women embroiderers from Barbosa Santander, the designer's place of origin. Cubel also takes new steps with artisan techniques that embody the idea of knowledge as an origin, the challenges that we study through technology and that we experience as a society. The designer invited groups of artisans and indigenous people from communities such as the Gunadule and Arhuacos to create. Creative dialogues with these communities characterize Cubel's design methodology. It is a way of capturing multiple visions of crafts, creation and design in their collections.

This collection keeps an important message about the earth, not only as an extension of a territory, but as the set of elements that compose it: the energies that have been present in connection with the being from the spiritual and physical, as well as the representations cultural of these energies, continue to manifest themselves from symbols that can be appreciated and understood from the craftsmanship. Since the indigenous people are the main guardians of the land, they continue a progenitor relationship that provides and gives well-being in two ways, because the land generates, sustains, envelops and humanizes us.

It is important to recognize the work that is carried out from the trades as a living cultural heritage that transcends borders and beliefs. Animals are the source of metamorphosis and have represented that balance between the animal and human world. In their forms they keep an inexhaustible ancestral revelation. We will see the anaconda as that guardian of the waters, the jaguar as a symbol of life and balance between worlds and the condor as a manifestation of wisdom from the past and present.

Cubel always seeks to create from reflections that arise from research and collaborative alliances between artists from multiple disciplines. These investigations and alliances create a whole powerful sound, visual and fashion ecosystem for the public.
