Bogota Fashion Week is part of a comprehensive commitment that the Bogota Chamber of Commerce has been making for the cultural and creative industries for 18 years, including the fashion sector. This business platform seeks to consolidate the city as the international capital of fashion through concrete actions with advice and support throughout the year.

Although the fashion sector in Bogota and the Region has registered a significant recovery, as the latest figures reveal that there are 22,457 active companies - 4.5% more than in 2021 (21,812 companies), and 1.5% more companies than in 2020 (22,457) -, there are still 6% less than the companies that were active before the pandemic (24,247 companies).

Nicolás Uribe Rueda, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce stated that "from the entity we are making permanent efforts to consolidate the reactivation of the sector and provide tools and advice to entrepreneurs in the sector to achieve more competitive productive units in the national and international market".

For this reason, the CCB has been carrying out actions to promote the reactivation of the sector on three fronts: support to strengthen businesses; sector specialization with the Cluster Initiatives for Apparel; Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods; and Jewelry and Costume Jewelry; and specialized support and the meeting between supply and demand with the BFW.

What's new at BFW

Bogota Fashion Week - BFW returns to its on-site format from May 19 to 21, 2022, at Ágora Bogotá - Convention Center (Calle 24, #38-71), with the aim of continuing to promote the circulation and marketing of local independent design, through the strengthening of brands, the generation of contact spaces for business and the approach of all audiences to the work of participating brands.

With the participation of 100 independent design brands there will be three main sections for the activation of sales:

1. Wholesale business or business rounds, a space where about 50 national and international buyers will be able to interact with the design and product proposals to finalize or plan business. 2. Pop-up stores, a space that will be inaugurated in the fifth edition of BFW as a great showcase for all visitors, who will be able to purchase at retail and directly the pieces of the most successful collections of the participating brands. 3. Catwalks, section where the 8 months of preparation, conceptualization and follow-up of the design of the collections that the brands will present during the three days of the market are materialized. From the specialized monitoring phase, the consulting firm selected 14 brands that stood out during the monitoring process. The platform will also present for the first time the Multibrand Design space, a show curated by the Escuela Superior de Diseño LCI, with about 61 brands that participate in other programs of the CCB portfolio and represent the Apparel; Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods; and Jewelry and Costume Jewelry sectors.

For its fifth edition, BFW will also present other free activities through the complementary sections Conversations and Experience Room.

Conversations, the series of talks on the most relevant topics in the fashion sector, will focus on exploring lasting solutions for sustainable fashion businesses. Under the curatorship of Rocío Arias Hoffman, from Silla Verde, topics such as environmental responsibility, creative collaborations, the publishing trade and cultural sustainability will be addressed. The Experience Room, meanwhile, will offer a special program to bring all visitors closer to staging events led by allies, designers and other players in the fashion industry, including fashion shows, conferences and commercial activations with free access.

María Paz Gaviria, Platforms Manager of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, stated that "the fifth edition of Bogota Fashion Week brings together multiple national and international actors in order to promote the creative talent of small and medium-sized design companies, strengthen their business and expand their market. On this occasion, we have also sought to create new spaces, such as pop-up stores and the Experience Room, to bring all audiences closer to the sector's processes and products". BFW BRANDS
