Encounters Between Technology, Stories, and Emotion

Artificial Intelligence will be a major theme at BAM 2025, with 18 events dedicated to animation and 6 focused on AI. In the live talk “Editing on Stage,” Jorge Caballero, Fabián Caba (Adobe Inc.), and Camilo Restrepo will explore how AI tools are transforming audiovisual editing. Additional sessions will discuss the ethical, legal, and creative challenges of AI in the industry, as well as its practical applications in content development and post-production.

Another key focus is intellectual property in the digital age. The talk “It’s Not Magic, It’s Strategy” will explore how to scale creative ideas into sustainable businesses from both legal and industry perspectives.

The intersection of influencer culture and audiovisual media will also be explored. In “Fame Is Not Relevance,” research firm Cifras y Conceptos will present a certification program for content creators. Companies like Goldfish will discuss purpose-driven influencer marketing, emphasizing creativity and authenticity as key connectors with audiences.

Animation as a Meeting Ground

Through the Otros Ojos program in partnership with the French Embassy, BAM will spotlight Andean animation and film education for children and youth. Featured guests include: Arnaud Miquel (French Embassy), Bérèngere Le Gall (ECV Animation), Thomas Meseguer (Gobelins Paris), Soizic Mouton (Pivaut School), Verónica Buide (MIA / Pulpa Rights), and Jairo Arcos (Signos Studio), among others. This program aims to strengthen diverse storytelling and lay the groundwork for future regional collaborations.

Conversations That Connect Industries

One of the most anticipated sessions is “Three Crafts Around Acting,” featuring actress and Colombian Academy of Cinema president Cristina Umaña, alongside María Juliana Casadiego (Happy Casting House), María Ibáñez, and John Bedoya, exploring casting, actor training, and representation in Colombia’s contemporary film industry.

Another key session explores new funding strategies with a talk on Fiscal Sponsorship, a legal tool that helps independent filmmakers access nonprofit funding in the U.S. More info on Industry Bites sessions >>

Stories That Travel from Page to Screen

A standout moment will be the BAM Talk with Laura Restrepo, author of Delirio, alongside Estefanía Piñeres (lead actress), Verónica Triana (screenwriter), and Julio Jorquera (director of the Netflix adaptation). They will reflect on the challenge of translating a story of silence, trauma, and memory into the language of film. More on BAM Talks >>

In collaboration with Cinemateca de Bogotá, BAM also presents a retrospective of Lucrecia Martel, featuring her complete filmography and special guests like Santiago Gallelli, Julieta Laso, and Paula Astorga. July 16–27 – Cinemateca de Bogotá

This immersive event will feature musical showcases by Ana María Vahos and Gato e’ Monte (BOmm guests), plus a special performance by Julieta Laso (BAM guest). The night includes a Live Cinema immersive experience.

As part of this collaboration, the industry session “Emotions, Metadata, and Rights” will dive into the role of music supervision in cinematic storytelling, from song selection to licensing.
