ARTBO | Weekend, an initiative of ARTBO, the arts program of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, returns to its on-site format from April 22 to 24, 2022, with the objective of continuing to promote the circulation and commercialization of local artistic production; encouraging the approach of all audiences to the languages of the visual arts; and fostering spaces for reflection and exchange on the artistic practices present in the city.
The initiative emerged in 2017 as a city event and, during the health emergency, adopted hybrid and digital formats for its continuation. After two years, citizens will once again be able to enjoy the traditional format, touring the city for free through the main art circuits in Bogota -Historic Center, Macarena, Teusaquillo, Chapinero Central, San Felipe and Chapinero Norte-. For three days, various exhibition spaces, including galleries, self-managed spaces, institutions and museums, will open their doors during extended hours.
In addition to this central component, ARTBO | Weekend will present other free activities through the components Intervention, Forum and Editorial Encounter.
Intervención offers an immersive live arts experience for all audiences, and on this occasion will be located at the Bogotá Planetarium (Calle 26B #5-93). The artistic intervention Swallow the Universe, Shit an Ant: Sketches of a Constipated Thaumaturge, curated by Santiago Gardeazábal, will exhibit 7 installations by the collectives and artists NIETO, Marcel Flores, Daiichi Mori, Vincent, Capucine, Michiko Takahashi and Suárez-Cifuentes.
Foro, the series of conversations on the most relevant topics in contemporary art, will be held at the Chapinero office of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (Calle 67 #8-32, floor -1) and will be curated by Anna Castella in collaboration with Liaisons, following the thematic axis of restoration.
The CCB - Chapinero Office (Calle 67 #8-32, floor -1) will also host the Editorial Encounter, a component that explores the book as an artistic medium. This section will bring together independent publishing projects to reflect on the use of matter, practices that promote new orders and the creation of these as a transformative act.
