Bogota, November 2023.ARTBO, the arts program of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), celebrates the 19th edition of ARTBO | International Art Fair of Bogota, from November 23 to 26 at Ágora Bogotá - Convention Center (Calle 24 # 38-47), in front of Corferias. With a new date, a new venue and great novelties, for four days ARTBO | Fair will be the central axis of the artistic circuit with innovative and avant-garde artistic proposals, summoning international and national galleries, curators, artists and the interested public.
For this edition, the Fair is betting on a vertical space with an avant-garde and versatile architecture in Ágora Bogotá - Convention Center, in addition to multifunctional spaces that take advantage of natural light on the five floors that make it up. Under the slogan New spaces, new realities, the Fair will offer visitors a boutique fair experience with its usual sections and two new sections.
Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, stated that "The CCB is an open-door entity that seeks to bring citizens, entrepreneurs, popular economy, micro and small businesses closer to the programs and services we have available to improve the quality of life and the economic and social development of Bogota and the region. ARTBO, arrives with novelties to promote the plastic arts chain that impacts from small businesses to galleries".
María Paz Gaviria, Manager of the Cultural Programs of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce explains that: "We will celebrate the 19th edition in a new format, a boutique-type vertical distribution, with avant-garde proposals, large-format works, young art and independent publications. We want to share with all of you two new spaces that will be part of this new bet: design and a space for discussion in Encuentros".
Get to know the sections of ARTBO | Fair 2023
Main Section: Presents national and international galleries with trajectory, emerging and avant-garde proposals carefully selected by a committee made up of prominent figures of the art scene. For 2023 the section is made up of 45 galleries from Spain, Chile, Argentina, Argentina, France and the United States.
Projects: This section shows projects by artists who have the commercial representation of a gallery and who are selected and invited by a curatorship that on this occasion was in charge of Claudia Segura, curator and cultural producer of Exhibitions and Collections at MACBA, Museu d'Art Contemporan de Barcelona. Under the theme How forests think, the public will find collectors of fragments produced by human activity or their imaginaries around the notion of nature.
Referents: this space explores works by artists who broke the paradigms of art history and have become referents of contemporary art. Julieta González is the curator of this section under the theme Third Nature, which proposes, through 85 works by 33 artists, a vision outside "History" that explores the natural, telluric, and vegetal world, to transcend both the notions of geography and history and propose other visions that are reconfiguring the current epistemic landscape.
Site: Large-scale works. This space seeks to create new market opportunities to promote the collecting of non-conventional format works. Nine works will be present throughout ARTBO from countries such as Sweden, Peru, Cuba and Colombia.
Artecámara: A space for the circulation and visibility of emerging artists' projects to promote their projection and participation in the art market, which on this occasion brings together 32 projects and two guest projects (Proyecto Tándem and Helena Producciones). The curatorship was in charge of Equipo TransHisTor(ia), formed by Maria Sol Barón and Camilo Ordóñez Robayo. This section, which is part of ARTBO | Feria, seeks to generate dynamics to strengthen the new generations of Colombian artists.
Artist's Book: Section made up of publishers and distributors that explored the book as an artistic medium, and propose to the public to relate to art from a different perspective, curated by Cain Press.
Conversations: A program aimed at learning and discussion on topics related to contemporary art. The talks will be related to the sections of the Fair.
Grounded Visits / Articularte: is a fair space for the convergence of knowledge, experiences, works, audiences and mediators; emphasizing the importance of dialogues and the visitor's voice. This space will be in charge of the Escuela Experimental del Arte - EAT.
Institutions and publishers: section created to provide a space for institutions, publishers and cultural publications to promote their activities, especially those focused on the visual arts, with the participation of museums, foundations, publishers, magazines and the media.
Artist's Book: Section made up of publishers and distributors that explored the book as an artistic medium, and proposed to the public to relate to art from a different perspective, curated by Cain Press.

New Sections
Design: Seeks to promote in the public of Bogota the appreciation and understanding of design as a form of artistic and functional expression; as well as to guarantee a space for reflection that manages to summon diverse national and international exponents of this field. It will include the participation of the following spaces: Ultramodernas (Bogota), Diseño Colombia (Bogota), Ensō (El Retiro, Antioquia), Unidos (Bogota) and Ochoinfinito (Bogota). The curatorship of this space will be in charge of Liliana Andrade, Architect and Museographer.
Encounters: A space that brings together professionals and experts to discuss current issues, trends and challenges in the art sector worldwide, with the participation of curators, directors of museums and institutions, national and international collectors and experts in patronage. This section is made up of 7 roundtables, among which the following stand out: Curators, Museums, Institutions and Biennials, Collecting and Patronage, among others. The curatorship of this space is in charge of Benedicta Badía, who has been involved in the art world for more than two decades, a period in which her focus and passion have been centered on Latin American contemporary art.
