The first SHOWCASES or music shows will be held on June 18 and 19, with the first location: Kennedy.

In addition to live music spaces, there will be discussions with key people in the music industry and networking sessions through business rounds and trade shows of local businesses.

This version is carried out with the support of the Local Mayor's Office of Kennedy and DNA Music, as allies that strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and local talent.

Bogota, June 2024. In order to give continuity to the “Área en Vivo” program that has been carried out in partnership between the Music Cluster Initiative led by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB) and Asobares Colombia since 2023, “Área en Vivo al Barrio” arrives in the city, a space to promote and support those talents that are born in the neighborhoods of the city's localities and need that boost to be recognized in the district and national music scene through the articulation with live music spaces. Thus, on June 18 and 19 this initiative will begin in the Kennedy District with a very enriching academic agenda, business rounds, commercial sample of entrepreneurship and showcases during the two days with the artists previously selected in a curatorship carried out with the support of DNA Music. It will be a day in which these talents will be strengthened, live music venues in Bogota will be made visible, and music tourism in the city will be strengthened, thanks to the decentralization of the offer. Value tools will also be activated thanks to the articulation between the supply of talent and musical demand for the sites.

One of the legacies left by the pandemic is that consumers are looking for new experiences, and that is where music is a major player. In 2023, the music sector contributed 2.7% of the city's added value and reported 12,559* jobs. On the night industry side, it occupies 139,482* jobs and the contribution is 2.47% of GDP*. “We have been working together with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and its Music Cluster Initiative, the development of the music industry and tourism in the country and it is very satisfying to be able to present this program ‘Área en vivo al Barrio’ to give space and support to those talents who want to enter the live music circuit of the city and that today are in the neighborhoods and bring them closer to the entrepreneurs who require new experiences and talents in their premises” mentioned Camilo Ospina, President of the Board of Directors of Asobares Colombia.

This first session in the Kennedy District will feature the participation of 44 artists in business rounds, 27 buyers among agents and live music and nightlife entertainment spaces, 10 local entrepreneurs, 4 academic training spaces specialized in the music industry and the realization of 9 showcases with 4 and 5 artists per day and will participate: Alto Grado, Agua Brava, El Pez Music, Los Hermanos de Nadie, NIGHTWATCHER, Hasta Que San Juan Agache El Dedo, kabala Ensamble, Diego López and Grovian Kruff. The following institutions will also be invited: CoCrea, The Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports -SCRD and Idartes. "This initiative seeks to generate the promotion of reindustrialization, sustainability and strengthening of the entrepreneurial fabric and popular economy. We identified this great opportunity to work from the Music Cluster Initiative and we want to contribute in this way to improve the articulation and competitiveness of the music sector,” explained Ovidio Claros, Executive President of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.

The live music scene and the projection of artists in the capital will be strengthened through “Área en Vivo al Barrio” which will bring entrepreneurs, representatives and a magnificent academic agenda for the benefit of entrepreneurs in Kennedy. According to a study by the Secretariat of Culture Recreation and Sport - SCRD in 2017, it was identified that in Bogota the main source of income of artists or groups is composed of the sum between: live music, which generates approximately 70% of the total income and 30% recorded music. Therefore, it is a highly relevant segment in the sector.
