Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota and the Arteria Foundation, will carry out the ceremony of delivery and unveiling of the seated statue of Francisco de Paula Santander, the Man of Laws, in the main square of the Palace of Justice “Alfonso Reyes Echandía”.
The ceremony will be attended by the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Diana Remolina Botía and the executive president of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, Ovidio Claros Polanco, in addition to the magistrates of the High Courts, as well as other special guests and media.
The work was created by Colombian sculptor Héctor Alejandro Hernández Pinto, selected through a call for entries. It is a bronze casting in black and green, and will be installed on a pedestal in reinforced concrete and red granite veneer, directing his gaze and aligned with the sculpture of Simon Bolivar, located in the center of the Plaza de Bolivar and the sculpture of former President Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera, in the main courtyard of the National Capitol.
The statue proposed by the master is a more human than military representation, to exalt the iconic figure of the man of the Laws, as he was also called for his defense of the nation's institutionality.
This statue complies with the provisions of Article 3 of Decree 1356 of 1970.
